Keep Your Car In Shape

How to Keep Your Car in Excellent Shape

As a parent it's super important that I keep my car in excellent shape. From driving the kids to school, to the doctor, and the endless trips to the grocery store, a well- running and maintained vehicle is a must. Here are some suggestions of how to keep your car in excellent shape that work for me.

Take it in For Regular Maintenance - Make sure all the fluids are at the proper levels including: Brake fluid, transmission fluid, power steering fluid, oil, and yes, even the wiper fluid. Have your tires checked to see if they're in need of replacing, have enough air, or need rotation. Check your tire balance regularly. Change spark plugs (if you have them) and always check your brakes.

Weekly Cleaning - Okay so this is something I'm trying to get better about but cleaning your car weekly will help keep it in shape, plus you'll feel better about driving it. Let the kids help pick up garbage, and if they're old enough, even vacuum and wipe down the dash. Everyone in the family usually helps make the messes, so why not let them be a part of taking care of the car and cleaning up? Sounds good to me!

Be Mindful of Who Drives It - This might sound silly but you'd be surprised at how many people loan out their cars, sometimes to people they don't even know very well! If you want to make sure your car stays in great shape then you need to know who's driving it and how it's being taken care of.  That means not loaning it out on a regular basis and if you do, making sure it's a person you truly trust.

Keeping your car in excellent shape isn't too difficult if you follow these simple tips, I hope they've been helpful!
