What Are the 2023 Dodge Hornet Engine Options?
As was previously mentioned, the Dodge Hornet is eligible for one of two engines, just depending on which trim level you choose. The GT trim, for example, comes with a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four-cylinder engine with 265-plus horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque. With a 0-60 time of just 6.5 seconds, the Hornet GT is one of the fastest, most powerful gas-powered CUVs on the market. The Hornet GT's 8-speed automatic transmission drives an all-wheel-drive system for superior performance and traction on inclement road conditions. Next up is the R/T trim and its PHEV powertrain. PHEV stands for plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. Therefore, the Hornet R/T consists of a 1.3L turbocharged I-4 engine, a rear-axle-mounted electric motor, and a rechargeable battery pack. The Hornet R/T's PHEV setup gives it 285-plus horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. Through a 6-speed automatic transmission, the turbocharged engine's power is sent to the front wheels. Meanwhile, the electric motor on the rear axle powers the rear wheels. Combined, the engine and electric motor give the Hornet R/T all-wheel drive. The cockpit-like design begins with a 12.3-inch fully-digital gauge cluster that provides three reconfigurable tiles to personalize the display. Looking toward the center stack, you will notice it is slightly tilted to face the driver, adding to the cockpit-style layout. Atop the center stack is a horizontal 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen running Uconnect 5, Dodge's latest infotainment software. Scanning your eyes downward from the touchscreen, you'll see push-button ignition, physical climate control and audio buttons, drive mode buttons, a leather-wrapped shift knob, and two cupholders with LED lighting.
What is the Dodge Hornet's Exterior Design?
The exterior is where Dodge's muscle car heritage shines brightly on the Hornet! While maintaining its CUV size and posture, Dodge's muscle car style is not forgotten. The Hornet's design team focused on the front fascia, giving it the face of an aggressive muscle car. It features a wide grille with a mail-slot opening that the vaunted Charger is known for. Meanwhile, the grille is flanked by slim horizontal LED headlights making for a fearsome glare. The Dodge Rhombi emblem is positioned front and center on the grille. Below the upper grille is a large lower grille to provide additional engine airflow while emboldening its road presence. For additional engine cooling and muscle car style, the Hornet features functional dual heat extractors on the hood. The Hornet's sleek appearance is provided by a streamlined, aerodynamic design. The Hornet features matte black lower cladding under the doors and over the wheel wells for a dash of rugged CUV styling. Moving on to the Hornet's rear, you'll find an LED light strip across the trunk lid, stretching from each of the slim taillights. As a Dodge brand first, the Rhombi logo in the middle of the trunk lid is illuminated.
