2021 Jeep Renegade vs Ford EcoSport

Shopping for a new crossover SUV is exciting! But it can also be very stressful as there are so many options in the crowded class. With carmakers fighting tooth-and-nail to make the most capable, comfortable, and convenient crossover they can, it can be hard to choose from so many incredible options. At Central Ave Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, we want to make this decision easier and ease any stress in the decision. This is why we've taken two of the leading crossovers and put them head-to-head. Continue reading to learn how the 2021 Jeep Renegade competes with the Ford EcoSport.

2021 Jeep Renegade Power & Handling

The 2021 Jeep Renegade comes with two available engines. The standard engine is a 2.4L I4 cylinder engine that provides drivers with 180 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. This engine is standard on the Sport and Latitude trims. The next engine is a 1.3L turbocharged I4 that kicks out 175 horsepower and an impressive 210 lb-ft of torque. This engine is standard on the Trailhawk and Limited trims while optional on the Latitude. Front-wheel drive comes standard across all trims besides the Trailhawk. Four-wheel drive is standard on the Trailhawk while optional on all other trims. All Renegade engines are paired with a smooth-shifting 9-speed automatic transmission.

2021 Ford EcoSport Power & Handling

Like its Jeep counterpart, the Ford EcoSport has two available engines. The standard engine is a turbocharged 1.0L I3 cylinder that produces a lackluster 123 horsepower and 125 lb-ft of torque. This is under the hood of the S, SE, and Titanium trims. Under the hood of the SES trim comes a 2.0L I4 cylinder that puts out 166 horsepower and 149 lb-ft of torque. Certainly a step up from the base engine, but nowhere close to the same power as the Renegade's standard engine. Front-wheel drive is also standard, while all-wheel drive is optional yet standard on the SES trim.

2021 Jeep Renegade Features & Design

The Sport trim kicks off the Renegade lineup with standard features like a full driver aids suite, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration, and push-button start. Latitude levels up with ambient LED interior lighting, roof rails, cornering fog lights, and 17-inch alloy wheels. The Trailhawk aims to please the drivers with their sights set beyond the beaten path bringing features like off-road-tuned suspension, 17-inch alloy wheels with all-terrain tires, skid plates, red tow hooks, and comfort features like heated front seats, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, an 8-way power driver's seat, and an 8.4-inch touchscreen with navigation. The top-of-the-line Limited trim brings premium features like leather seating, heated front seats, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, an 8.4inch touchscreen with navigation. The Sun and Sound Group is available on all trims and adds a dual-pane sunroof and premium sound system. Standard driver aids include blindspot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts, a rearview camera, automatic emergency braking, and lane-keep assist.

2021 Ford EcoSport Features & Design

The 2021 EcoSport also brings four trims, S, SE, Titanium, and SES. The S trim brings a rearview camera, air conditioning, and power windows/locks. SE adds an 8-inch touchscreen, automatic climate control, a sunroof, and a power driver's seat. The Titanium trim adds features like a premium audio system, navigation, heated leather seats, and a heated steering wheel. The SES adds the 2.0L engine, all-wheel drive, blindspot warning, and sport-tuned suspension. While the EcoSport has similar safety equipment as the Renegade, like front airbags, front side and curtain airbags, rear side airbags, and driver's knee airbags, the EcoSport lacks significantly in the way of driver aids like lane keep assist and automatic emergency braking.
